2005 Ford F-150 Question?
I was doing an oil change on a '05 f150 4X4 and while i was looking around underneath it i saw something i hadn't seen before.On the back of the left rear shackle there was what looked like some kind of dampener.It was a metal bracket with a rubber bushing in the middle of it.There was only one on the left side and not one on the right.Does anyone know what this piece is called and why it is there?Just curious to know.

It doesn't look like a shock
It looks like those counter weights Ford use to hang on their exhaust systems except instead of being solid steel this one was hollow square tubing filled with rubber.It was bolted to the back of the left rear shackle near the rear bumper.
Just a noise/vibration dampener.
That's why the truck is much quieter than almost anything that came before it.
Did a presentation about that stuff last spring.
