I owe my faith in the stars to her.
Thalia and Melpomene
helped me find temperence, between.
Terpsichore whose climax is past
bows to wise Clio, at last.
Euterpe will enchant me always, carry my spirit away;
yet the three remaining I persue until my dying day.
I used to know a Calliope (though she always insisted people call her Poppy).
I remember explaining to her on a train-ride one time that a Calliope was also a type of Fairground organ, and mentioning that if she would only let me finger her keys I could make steam come out of her ears.
Extended metaphors tend to work better in poems than they do as courtship ritual ......
