How do I assemble a McDeura Bagpipe?
I recently bought a McDeura Bagpipe because I play many other instruments, and I thought this would be a good one to add to my roster. There is someone in town who could help, but he has a new family to look after, and now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have a book to teach the notes, but on the topic of chanter and drone reed placement, I am totally lost. My drone reeds will not sound, and the bag refuses to stay inflated, no matter what I do. So, now, I have come to the internet for help. Any videos or VERY In-detail Guides are highly appreciated.
Thank you for your help.
I completely concur with ironbrew, who knows what he's doing. I personally know an accomplished musician who was dumbfounded by the bagpipes despite of decades of wind instrument experience plus a week-long bagpiping school. They are so easy to play poorly. Unlike a guitar or piano which will sound reasonable in the hands of a novice, bagpipes will often sound bad even in the hands of someone who has been learning for a few months, or sometimes even a few years.
Here's an article which will help, which includes a lot of advice and link on how to assemble a set of bagpipes:

McDeura bagpipes are definitely made in Pakistan and are highly suspect. Trying to play them may be futile. Either have an experienced piper check them over or replace them with a reliable set that you know will play.
With some good instructional help and a decent set of pipes, you might just make a piper yet.
